How the Ryder Cup works

Every Hole Helps Your Team

Team-based match play puts the focus on the opponent and the hole in front of you. Points earned in each match contribute to the team total.

1 point

Win a hole

Each hole is worth 1 point. The player who wins the hole earns that point.

+1 bonus

Win the match

The winner of the overall match earns 1 additional bonus point. If the overall match ends in a tie, the bonus point is split between the players.

Team total

Win together

All points contribute to the team total. The team with the most total points at the end of the competition wins the Ryder Cup.

More Than Another Tournament

Play for your teammates

Head-to-head golf adds team pride and a different pressure environment. Golfers learn match-play strategy, make decisions independently, and compete for more than their own score.

Finish the season together

The Friday-night team experience builds relationships before the matches begin. Competition, camaraderie, and a shared finish make the Ryder Cup a memorable conclusion to Legends League.

Before You Play

Giving golfers ownership of their competition and decision-making is part of the Ryder Cup experience.

  • Players handle their own clubs, shots, decisions, and play.
